Guards are appointed by drivers to ensure that all passengers board safely and the doors are operated safely. Drivers can appoint a guard in the UI. As of the latest update, 450s are the primary unit that have this feature.

To start guarding a train, ask for driver permission first. If you have received permission, head to the back of the train and click the panel in the cab until a UI pops up. You are now a guard. As a driver, you will need to press Appoint Guard, before typing the full username of the target user.

Below are the Guarding Instructions for ordinary stations, these are stations where the driver must stop anyway (not on request).

Guarding without a dispatcher Guarding with a dispatcher
  • Once the driver comes to a stop, the guard checks if everything is safe (if the train has local doors, open the local doors to check), and opens the doors.
  • The guard waits for a green signal, and upon receiving a green signal, the guard should whistle and then close the doors once there are no obstructions.
  • Once the interlock light goes out, the guard must then check again to ensure the train is ready for dispatch (make sure no one is approaching the train or near the platform edge), if need be the guard can whistle to get the attention of any passengers. After there are no obstructions, the guard may buzz "2".
  • The train can proceed.
  • Once the driver comes to a stop, the guard checks if everything is safe (if the train has local doors, open the local doors to check), and opens the doors.
  • The guard waits for the RA/CD indicator to display "CD" (Close Doors), or a white light under baton dispatching operations, then the guard should whistle and then close the doors once there are no obstructions.
  • Once the interlock light goes out, the guard must then check again to ensure the train is ready for dispatch (make sure no one is approaching the train or near the platform edge), if need be the guard can whistle to get the attention of any passengers, however the dispatcher should also be looking out and be alert if any passengers cone near the tracks. After there are no obstructions, the guard may buzz "2".
  • The train can proceed.

In cases where the station is a request stop, the guard must buzz "1" to the driver, to tell the driver to stop at the station.
