Railway Equipment

OFF Indicators are designed to assist dispatchers to relay information onto drivers. These indicators can now be found at Masonfield, Dovedale Central and Fanory Mill, and were formerly present at Satus Services and Glassbury Junction. Prior the V1.0, the indicators were controlled by Train Dispatch Equipment Units (TDEU), which are based on the units built by Dewhurst Ltd. They are now controlled automatically once a signal has been cleared, or via a small panel next to the train.

Indicator States

OFF Indicators have two states, either blank or OFF. They are shown on the digital screen in a similar fashion to a dot matrix display.

When the display is blank, it means that the associated signal is at danger. An illuminated indication CD (close doors) is an instruction to close the train's power-operated doors. An illuminated indication RA or R (right away) means that station duties are complete, and the train may depart.

Train Dispatch Equipment Units

Train Dispatch Equipment Units, or TDEUs were used to control the OFF indicator at the platform, and let the signaller know that the train is ready to start. They had a platform label at the top, and the previous version of them included a screen displaying the current state of the OFF Indicator, along with a panel to control the state of the OFF Indicator. These were present at Satus Services and Glassbury Junction before the TDEUs and OFF indicators were removed.

There were also TDEUs present at Dovedale Central and Gleethrop End, and were solely used to indicate a TRTS to the signaller, and had an empty openable box.

There are TRTS buttons at Dovedale East platforms that notify the signaller of a TRTS, although these are not TDEUs.
