The Railway Museum is a museum located at Dovedale East. It documents the development history of the game and also shows off the equipment used to run it. It shares the Dovedale East station building with a ticket counter. It is currently closed and expected to reopen in the future.

Exhibits

  • An old decommissioned steam train called Grace.
  • A station sign from the old Dovedale East that used to sit on the front of the old Dovedale East Signal box.
  • The Signalling Board from the old Dovedale East Signal box, in a poor condition.
  • The Museum of BALL, an tiny museum set up to preserve the BALL, an inside joke shared by some members of the community. Its origins are unknown according the plaques found inside the museum.
  • An example of one of the radios found in many signal boxes throughout the game. It does not play music.
  • 2 signs from Satus Services, one in pristine condition with the word "Engineering" on it and an orange colour-scheme, and the other that is incredibly rusty with the word "Diesel" on it and a blue colour-scheme.
  • A development timeline of the game documenting from the 3rd of January through to the end of August 2023.
  • Multiple pieces of signage from around the railway including 2 speed limit signs, a triangular whistle board and a curved metal "Dovedale" sign.
  • Examples of distant signals, Home signals and Shunt signals on a concrete platform.
  • A platform TDEU, which is a dispatching tool used to communicate with drivers by changing an off indicator on the platform.
  • There are multiple images around the museum of old stations, one picture shows the old Dovedale East at night with full platforms, another shows the old Dovedale Central with a Class 156 at it. The final image shows a steam train passing Steynbath Crossing.
  • A stand with a rotating display of the Dovedale Merchandise and an option to buy it for your own Roblox avatar.

History

The original railway Museum was added to the game around May to June, 2023, and stood at the old Dovedale East station. It was much more simple then the one that stands today and had a lot less information and exhibits in it.

When Dovedale East received its big update, originally the Railway Museum wasn't at the station anymore and was removed from the game for a substantial amount of time. It wasn't until the 17th of September when the big Dovedale Central update released and the museum came back to the game. Since its release it hasn't had any major updates itself, although the ticket counter it shares the station building with got an updated interior on the 23rd of September.

Trivia

  • In the development history, one of the panels shows development being spelt wrong as "deveolopment"
  • The museum has existed for quite a while, but it was unable to be released due to unfinished work around the Dovedale Central update.
  • The Merchandise found here used to be in Cosedale Cabin.
    • After the old museum was removed the developers needed to put the merchandise seller somewhere, so they put it in Cosedale Cabin. It was moved back into the museum when the new one was created.
  • The existence of Grace the steam engine suggests there could possibly be lore added to the game at a later date.
