A coupler down on a Class 411.

Coupling trains is an admin-only feature which allows multiple separate units to be run as one train. The only train which can be coupled currently is the Class 411. The feature may be added as a public feature in future, but it is not certain[1]. Prior to Version 1.0, trains could be coupled using a different system.

How to Couple

Trains can be coupled by first preparing the coupler using the key prompt on both units. One train should then be driven into the other at a slow speed (around 3mph) and then the brake should be applied. The driver should then switch ends using the swap sides feature and optionally move a short distance at a slow speed to ensure that the trains are coupled correctly and that no accidental derailment has occurred during the procedure.

To uncouple units, the key prompt should be used on one of the units. The driver should then drive away from the other unit at a slow speed.

Pre Version 1.0

Prior to Version 1.0, the Class 156, Steam Train and its respective Steam Carriages, as well as the Red Steamer could all be connected to each other. Players would simply need to drive the trains/shunt the coaches slowly into each other, where they would automatically join up with each other.

To uncouple, players would need to press the coupler on both coaches, to release the connection.

Trivia

  • There is no limit on the amount of Class 411 units that can be coupled into one train.
  • The system is currently very buggy, this is one reason why it is not currently available for the public to use.
