Perthtyne Crossing is a Automatic Barrier Crossing Locally Monitored level crossing located between Gleethrop End and Perthtyne.
This level crossing was added in Version 1.2.0, alongside Masonfield Crossing.
Operation
This level crossing is unique in that has barriers and relies on drivers or train staff for safe operation (hence the name, "Automatic Barrier Crossing Locally Monitored"). The level crossing has three parts parts, the crossing itself (alarms and warning lights), barriers and the Level Crossing Indicator. The Level Crossing Indicators have two different indications, flashing red and flashing white.
- Flashing Red - Stop before reaching the level crossing, ensure that it is safe before proceeding over it.
- Flashing White - The level crossing is working normally and providing that the level crossing is clear, it is safe to proceed over it.
The level crossing will automatically operated upon detection of an approaching train.
History
When the crossing was first introduced it was an Automatic Open Crossing that was locally monitored (AOCL). In Update 2.0.0 the crossing was upgraded to a Automatic Barrier Crossing Locally Monitored (ABCL). The plunger to activate the crossing from the Perthtyne direction was also removed as well as the whistle boards.
